Derby Elk Resort

9/4 - 9/6/12: We had an amazing time here in the Washington Cabin! It was perfect! It was so comforting to come back here at the end of a long day walking, sightseeing. The hot tub was so relaxing. We enjoyed looking at the stars while we relaxed in hot tub, and we got a kick out of the cows! We loved seeing them as we drove along China Gulch Rd. We loved our stay. Thank you! April 15, 2012: Henry, Thank you for your warm hospitality & making us feel right at home here in your lovely cabin. It was the perfect relaxing get away that we were needing. I think we counted seeing over 25 deer while here in the Hill City along with the pronghorns, buffalo & even a wild turkey! We went bike riding along the Michelson Trail & the hot tub felt amazing afterwards! We will be sure to tell our friends & family about this little haven & hope to come back one day. March 15-19, 2012: Were BACK!!! Our third stay at Derby Elk was sensational. We were blessed with 75 degree weather the whole stay. We did venture out into Hill City to try the Alpine Inn for supper. It was really good (not as good as Prime Time in........) St. Patrick's Day was on Saturday so after our dinner out we ventured further to the Many Moose & Big Horn Crossing for a drink. But we were all too ready to leave civilization and return for an old fashion drink & ice cold beer in the hot tub. Thanks so much Henry for this marvelous place. We'll be back next year for sure. July 28 - Aug.4, 2012: We loved the wonderful, spacious cabin, and sleeping accommodations...not to mention the hot tub. Even though it was a long, dusty drive down China Gulch Road in & out each day, we paused to ooh & ahh numerous times as we took pictures of wild deer & other wildlife. The Roosevelt Cabin was a very nice place to return to each night after the tiring days full of sight-seeing and other activities. We even enjoyed meeting a friendly farm dog who stopped by to say "hi" and get a few scratches behind the ear...we lovingly nicknamed her "Shep". Aug 23 - 26th: Perfect weather, great time. As always begin & end the day on the porch. Brought friends Tom & Diana along for their first Black Hills ATV adventure.
